PHP's Ease-of-use Wins Over Perl

PHP Magazine has a new article posted today about a recent Builder.au article concerning the matter of PHP's ease-of-use factor over Perl.

In a recent interview to Builder.AU, Australian Perl guru Damian Conway was quizzed about the popularity of PHP (compared to Perl) for Web programming. His response highlights PHP's optimization for Web development tasks, its easy set up, and low learning curve. He goes onto say, "Perl, being a general-purpose programming language, is nowhere near as highly specialised for Web-based development. Comparatively few people seem to need the extra power that Perl can provide (e.g. the enormous resources of CPAN), so PHP's ease-of-use wins out most of the time. As it should.

I also love the fact that he promotes the idea that developers should not just be stuck to one language. There is a right language for the right job that might be something you've never tried. So, hop outside your comfort zone and see just what might lie on that code horizion...
