There's a "birthday card" of sorts from PHP Magazine posted today for PEAR, the resource of libraries/code that has made PHP some of what it is today.
Five years ago, Stig Bakken committed the first few lines of PEAR code (DB.php). Today, PEAR has matured and assumed a greater significance in the world of PHP programming. PHP Magazine takes this opportunity to salute the wonderful developers behind PEAR and the unwavering community.
They mention some important dates in PEAR's history, including: 1999-11-22 - The first few lines of PEAR code were committed (DB.php), 2000-08-01 - First working version of the "pear" command, and 2001-12-28 - First package uploaded to the current pear.php.net.
