A new submission from Ophir Prusak came in this morning about a new article he has posted on his site - Understanding PHP - How did we get here?

I feel that there are too many people that know PHP without really understanding everything going on under the hood. The big picture as well as the small details. Not just the "how" but also the "why" and the "why not". First, I'd like to give you a better understanding of why I'm writing this article and how we got here in the first place. Afterwards I'll help you get a better understanding of PHP.

He goes through, covering several topics including: how people learn PHP, the quality of PHP articles online, why PHP was developed, and who uses PHP from day to day. It's an intersting overall article, but it's nothing that hasn't been mentioned before. It's nice to have a few of these concepts reinforced, however...
