Marco Tabini's Weblog:
PHP & the Enterprise Myth
Oct 08, 2004 @ 12:14:12

Marco Tabini's weblog has a new, quite extensive posting about the state of PHP, it's "enterprise readiness", and what's missing in the PHP world to really get developers up to where they need to be.

From this post: wish we could all stop arguing about whether PHP is "enterprise ready" for a moment and wonder whether anyone actually cares. [...] Thus, let's focus on putting our money where our collective mouth is. For my part, I think there are two reasons why PHP isn't enterprise ready *where it matters*: there aren't enough PHP developers to fill all the jobs that are available, and there are no resources aimed at reaching the people who matter.

He goes on to explain the two points above, stating what the PHP community would need to make those two issues go away. He makes a list of some of the things that can help accomplish the goal of making a "platform" in support of PHP.
