In a seeming sad state of affairs, there has been an announcement from Joyce Park (formerly of Friendster) of her termination from said company - The reason given was blogging.

In a posting from Dynamically Typed, Harry adds his opinions - Remember Friendster's switch to PHP? Well it seems Joyce Park's reward for announcing the top secret switch from Java/JSP to PHP (and giving Friendster a bunch of free advertising) was firing.

Jeremy Zawodny sums it up: Take a minute. Go read her blog. See what you can find that's so offensive to the company that they had to fire her. I'm really resisting the urge to say what I really think about Friendster's current and past management. I think it speaks for itself.

It's really scary to me to think that things like this can happen (seemingly on a whim) like this. I almost wish that this would get enough coverage to make an example out of this company. Sure, they might have other reasons behind the story, but there's nothing else coming out - and that looks *really bad* for Friendster...
