The latest edition of PHP Magazine's PHPBarnstormer has been posted and includes information on PHP5, PEAR/PECL Releases, and continuing coverage of the HTML_Quickform package.
I am very proud to be the absolutely last person to announce the release of PHP 5.0.0! After two years of planning and programming, and a grueling year-long beta testing period, PHP 5.0.0 is now a reality.
Also noted were the new U.S. offices for Zend and their 8 million in funding as well as their new PHP Certification Program.
In PEAR/PECL news, an agreement was arrived at that PHP5 packages would not be excluded from PEAR and, going hand-in-hand with that, a proposal that developers should maintain both PHP4 and PHP5 versions of their packages.
In the Package in Focus section, the spotlight continues to shine on HTML_Quickform. It adds to your knowledge of the package, showing you how to use "Renderers" for more control over the HTML the package outputs.
