In this week's latest <a href=http://www.zend.com/zend/week/week188.php">PHP Weekly Summary, quite a few different topics were covered - everything from the long awaited release of PHP 5.0.0RC3 to correcting smaller errors in the more well-used portions of PHP.
The new RC release was a close one: Andi gave the development team one final hour to come up with any last-minute frighteners, then all being quiet - rolled the long-awaited PHP 5.0.0RC3, returning the version to -dev with the brief and cheering note: "Shouldn't need another RC". So far, so good from what I've seen - sure, there are bugs that have come out of it, but it's not a big issue at this point.
There was also quite a bit of discussion this past week including talk about the old build system and extensions on Windows machines, a memory leak issue with Tidy, and one of the larger controversies of the week - a certain developer who, instead of submitting patches, simply told the mailing list what the problems were but made no effort to fix them. He did, however, help to make PHP 5 a more stable place by locating an issue that wasn't one, causing everyone to check out the report, which lead to the correct solution.
And, as always, there are many more items discussed here, so go check out the rest of the Weekly Summary...
