In a new posting from PHP Magazine, there's discussion of a long debate on the PEAR list regarding the introduction of a Savant package into PEAR.
PEAR already includes 4 templating engines, and it had been pretty much accepted that no more templating engines would be accepted. However, Savant brings some new features into the arena, making the decision even more difficult. The discussion has gone from whether or not to include Savant to deciding the future of the rest of the HTML_Template packages. I personally would like to see Savant included. Read all about Savant in Issue 05.04 (yet to be released) of the International PHP Magazine. Thanks to Aaron for the link.
