MoviePartners' Open Source Move
May 26, 2004 @ 12:29:07

Via a link from PHP Magazine today, there is a special note off the newswire about the MoviePartners leveraging open source technologies to launch two new websites, one of which is the "oldest and largest" screenwriting communities still in operation.

ScreenWriter's Utopia (http://www.screenwritersutopia.com) and Global Literary Market (http://www.netscreenwriter.com) are now set to reinvigorate the online market for screenwriters and Hollywood development professionals. Using rapid application development coupled with open source technologies, MoviePartners re-launches two key sites in its family to the world. Using the LAMP combination (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP), MoviePartners continues to create robust, stable, and infinitely-expanding web applications created and targeted for the film and screenwriting communities. The cost savings for moving to this architecture have also been dramatic while still being able to meet the demands for modern web-based applications.

To get a better idea of what they did or how they did it, check out either this press release or either of the two sites above. While they're not amazing to look at, they're still very powerful sites with some nice features.
