In this week's PHP Weekly Summary from Zend, there is a recap of a lot of discussion as well as a fix and a new item.

The discussion this past week centered around a few topics including an effort to get the Sybase-CT support working correctly, a fairly heated discussion about the release process for PHP (including a passionate defence of it from Sara Golemon), talk about re-including GIF support back into GD (yes, the patent's almost up) leading to a consensus that the patch should wait until 5.0.1.

Also mentioned this week were other topics dealing with the PDO (PHP Data Objects) functionality - one side with the possibility of having an init() function to load modules easier rather than struggling through the PDO setup, and another side that's working to keep these same PDOs as portable as possible and not create anything that might make it more difficult to port of from one place to another.
