New in this week's edition of the PEAR/PECL Weekly News (for 05.22.2004) are several, interesting items including the proposal of a PEAR Core QA Team, addressing of some of the documentation problems, and something very special in PECL...
First off, with the package proposals and votes on current packages, the following were suggested: PHP_Beautifier, a RDF::RDF package (to bring RAP under the PEAR umbrella), as well as the Proposal for QA::Core_Team_Vote. Packages voted on this week incldued: HTML_CSS-0.3.4, XML-Parser-1.2.0beta1, Date-1.4.3, and DB_DataObject_FormBuilder-0.9.0.
In the miscellaneous items from the week, there were some very interesting items mentioned including: a large undertaking to ensure some of the lesser developed extensions will work with PHP5, a discussion of the 'disappearing dev team syndrome' plaguing the PEAR development lists, the "official birth" of the PDO (PHP Data Objects) and, in one of the lighter notes:
And finally, someone named Walter - having had a patch for case-sensitive Auth somewhat dissed - treated the list to a dissertation on the nature of Authentication. This wins the Golden Email Award for this week by my reckoning, it's just sad that he didn't get a reply.
