Alright all of you East Coasters, there's an event that you might want to check into and get some more details on - the Open Source/PHP Picnic to be held in Wilmington, NC.
I (Kenneth Schwartz, "n" from freenode) will be hosting an OS/PHP picnic on the July 4th weekend. This will be a very informal social event in Wilmington, North Carolina (USA) on Saturday, July 3rd and/or Sunday, July 4th (depending on interest). Please read the below specifics and complete the interest form if you have an inkling that you might attend. This is strictly a request for interest, plans will be finalized on May 31st, at which time formal RSVPing will take place. This page will be the main source of information, if you have any comments/suggestions/questions please feel free to e-mail me.
The idea is simply for an informal social event with a few sessions throughout the day (again, depending on interest). If you would like to hold a brief (~30mins) session please note the topic and estimated length below, I will contact you ASAP. LCD projection equipment and other various items will be available. Besides the sessions, 3 meals will be served with snacks all day long, if you have any special dietary requirements please note them below, I will do my best to accommodate you. Various beverages will also be available; sodas, juices, water, beer, etc. I hope to get a few vendors to provide some "door" prizes (please e-mail me/comment below if you have any specific ideas).
Looks like not only will there be good food and good company, but wireless internet access to boot! Right now, Kenneth is trying to get a feel for the number of people that would want to attend such a gathering, so head over to their page and fill out the form for more information...
