PEAR/PECL Weekly Summary (05.17.2004)
May 17, 2004 @ 12:02:59

In this week's PEAR/PECL Weekly News there is quite a bit about the many discussions that went on last week, including a debate between David Sklar and Rasmus Lerdorf/Dericks Rethans/Wez Furlong about the possibility of the inclusion of the QuickForm package into a PECL extension.

Other notes from this past week include several packages being voted on/released inclduing: Date and Time::Date_Cron, Net_Curl, XML_FastCreate, and Mail_IMAP. Several of these new releases are in beta.

There was quite a bit under the "Miscellanea" grouping this week, most of it dealing with a little bit of "internal housekeeping" on the PHP admin's side of things - setting up a PEAR channel server, making the login process based off of pear.php.net, and a larger debate over a sugestion by Thorsten Suckow-Homberg that all code written should be error free on the E_ALL error level (and that the @silencer should not be used at all).
