New from Zend this week are the latest PEAR/PECL Weekly News and this week's PHP Weekly Summary. Both have several interesting items including 20 PEAR/PECL releases and lots of discussion from the lists.
First off, from the PEAR/PECL summary, there were two packages proposed: Image::Imagick and a project from Eric Gach to create a framework for "the loading and unloading of functions during runtime". Also this week, there is quite an amazing list of releases (20) that include: HTTP_Download-0.7.0 (beta), Var_Dump-0.9.3 (beta), System_Socket-0.4.1 (alpha), and HTML_Progress-1.2.0RC2 (beta).
In this week's PHP Weekly Summary, there was a lot of conversation going on last week including talk of the creation of arrays, the reasoning behind why constants can only be scalars, different error returns for different problems with require(), and the suggestion that Interbase support for versions below 6 be removed from the PHP codebase.
