Zend:
PHP Weekly Summary 04.06.2004
Apr 27, 2004 @ 11:59:46

Back with their latest PHP Weekly Summary, Zend reviews a variety of topics and happenings from last week.

Included in these is, of course, the release of PHP 5.0.0 RC2, fixing a bug with compatibility in the the Zend Engine I and PHP4, the switch over to studlyCaps for all of the OOP extensions, as well as a new warning if your abstract method has the wrong prototype.

There was also talk of interface inheritance (making sure that the signatures of the methods are adhered to) as well as a mention of the mmap limit currently in place and bumping the chunk size up to 1MB to make life a bit easier for all.

And, on a somewhat sad note, there is a farewell to Avi Lewin, formerly the author of these summaries. He started the PHP Weekly Summary columns back when PHP was still in 4.0.2, and the only way to get real updates on what was going on was to sort through the mialing lists. Thankfully, Jan Lehnardt was stepped in and taken up the cause - best of wishes to both Avi and Jan in this impactful change...
