New from the PEAR/PECL mailing lists this week, there are a few items worth noting - a few package proposals, votes given to existing packages, as well as a few other miscellaneous items.
The packages proposed for this past week include: an intended enhancement package for the XML_RPC package already in place (the code will probably be merged into the current package), a Net_Trackback implementing the Trackback protocol for PEAR, a System_Socket package that acts as a wrapper around the socket functionality already in PHP, a wrapper around the the syn binary allowing full access to the Subversion functionality. Last, but definitely not least, EvilWalrus.com's Andrew Heebner has presented his Net_Presence instant messenger notification package.
There are also a few packages that recieved votes this time around including: Text_Highlight, File_Fstab, HTML_Table_Matrix, and DB_Table. They all recieved 2 or higher votes, with the leader of the pack getting up to 14 votes with no conditionals.
And, finally, there are a few other random bits of news from the list this week, including items about PEAR project naming, Sebastian relinquishing his control to his Benchmark package, as well as a "filtering out" of some of the emails on a certian thread in the PEAR list (in the "On PEAR quality issues and natural selection" thread), and has been trimmed down to remove some of the "bogus arguments".
