In a startling new note from the MySQL development team, information about their newest application has been posted on their site.

MySQL Administrator is a (Windows-only?) MySQL administration tool (duh) that works with your MySQL server to provide such features as: administering users, granting privileges, viewing user privilege information, monitor the health of your MySQL server dynamically, easily optimizing your databases with the click of a button, and help with disaster prevention and recovery.

MySQL Administrator looks like it might just be what MySQL users have been needing, and may even take the place of other tools like phpMyAdmin and others. The real question lies in what platform(s) it will be for and how much it will cost. It's a nice, slick interface, but if it's too expensive, then people may just stick to their tride and true methods...
