New this week from Zend is their latest PHP Weekly Summary for the ween of January 12th.
This past week, there was more discussion than anything, with conversations about the new DOM extention documentation and how it can be "revamped" for PHP5. Also mentioned this week is a low-memory option being considered for PHP5 that would allow users to disable/not install certain rarely-used functions to reduce the memory footprint that PHP would take up. And finally, there is an interesting note about a bug seen in PHP5 when trying to declare classes conditionally. They are working on it, but it is a "tough bug" - one hopefully solved by the release of PHP5.
Lastly, there is a special note about a new buildsystem for the PHP5 snapshots. Wez Furlong and Edin Kadribasic put some effort into using the new build system for win32 snapshots. The new build system was introduced by Wez some weeks ago and was stabilized until now. The successful installation on the PHP snapshot box proved the system to be able to build PHP 5 and PECL modules with no problems.
