Comments Errors and Backups
Jan 07, 2004 @ 15:39:18

Well, unfortunately, every once and a while, we all screw up, and this time, I did in a major way. I was editing a comment as a favor to a user, and I managed to update every single comment to it instead of just his.

So, what does this mean for the site? Well, hopefully nothing....I recieve an email every time someone makes a comment, so, ideally, I can restore some of them from that. I had made a backup around the first part of July last year, so not all is lost, but any comments from that point on have been lost. I will be doing my best today and later tonight to get this resolved, and get your comments back. After all, that's most of what makes this site...

I appologize for the problems this has caused, and I hope to have it resolved by tomorrow morning. In the meantime, there's no need to repost comments unless you feel they would be of benefit today...in the meantime, one thing I can recommend to *everyone* out there with a site like this - backup, backup, then backup some more.

UPDATE: we're back in business - the comments have been replaced!
