SitePoint:
OS X for Web Development
Dec 18, 2003 @ 13:16:48

If you're one of the lucky ones (yes, I'm a Mac user) that use the latest operating system from Apple, OS X, then you probably know by now that you can run things just like a regular Unix-based machine. This includes setting up your own Apache/PHP/MySQL/Linux installation (LAMP, or in this case, LAMX). But where do you start? Well, this new article from SitePoint should get you headed in the right direction.

In Configuring OS X for Web Development, the author steps you through the installation (or, in some cases, enabling) of the services you'll need to get your own local web server up and running for testing. Having a local server can be amazingly useful when it comes to making changes on applications or adding complete new sections.

He even gives you some other links to information on CVS, installing Python, and a link to the MySQL page where you can find the packages for OS X.
