In one of the more enlightened attempts at the age old question (PHP vs .NET), Sterling Hughes has a new posting that might help to clear the air a bit.
Why do I always end up defending .NET? I wouldn't personally build my web applications with .NET, I prefer PHP, but when I see articles like this, they actually make me want to stand up for .NET. [...] At the end of the day, .NET does solve many problems better than PHP does. There is no shame in admitting that, because when it comes down to it, PHP solves the right problems better.
He gives several points on why .NET is better at what it does, but PHP is better for the job most of the world uses it for - web site development. Also, I love his illustration of the Formula 1 car....be sure to read on for more!
