Starting this week off the right way, Zend has posted their latest PHP Weekly Summary with some interesting information about PHP5.
The fact of the matter is, there are millions of lines of deployed PHP code out there, and most people are excited about the prospect of upgrading to the new version. PHP is in the process of becoming as compatible as possible with existing code without having to make changes for it to run correctly.
With a major upgrade like PHP4->PHP5, there will always be "growing pains", but it's good to see that the PHP team is doing all that they can to make that transition as easy as possible.
Other things mentioned this week include: a bug discovered with a MySQL/Apache 2 build of PHP5, a GD "sharpening" algorithm to clean up your images, and a patch that will finally allow the stat() function to work with streams as well.
