Zend:
A Look Back
Oct 27, 2003 @ 13:03:08

Today's PHP Weekly Summary from Zend covers quite a bit of the new happenings of last week, including two new major software releases.

Last week, both PHP 5 Beta 2 RC 1 and PHP 4.3.4 RC 2 were released for public consumption. As usual, they'd love as much help as can be given about bugs or any other issues that you might find. For the 4.3.4 RC 2 release, they also have a battery of tests that you can follow to give back the best results.

Also this past week, besides those two releases, there were a few other smaller issues, including: talk of creating a --disable-xml flag for the configure to remove libxml2 support, the suggestion of instituting a "dangling comma" in PHP (already in arrays), some discussion about returning NULL instead of false when fetching rows, and a large discussion about the role that Java will play in the upcoming PHP5 framework.
