If you've been shopping around for an editor to write your code in, you know that there are tons of them out there sporting all kinds of features. The key, of course, is finding one that fits how you work, and is stable enough to keep you working for a while. One of these options is NuSphere's PHPEd, and SitePoint has a new review of their latest.
Of course, PHPEd isn't freeware, but it makes up for that with the number of features. The reviewer goes through some of the main functionality of the IDE, including the main window (complete with tooltips) and a nice debugger built in to help you with keeping your scripts in line. One of the nicer things, however, is the fact that it includes a Profiler to show you exactly how much time your scripts are taking. This can be invaluable when you're looking for that one bottleneck you just can't seem to find. Their client even has built in database and NuSOAP clients to make integration that much easier.
Overall, the review is positive, though: All up, PHPEd is an impressive product with a few rough edges. [...] (and) while it's an expensive tool for a single developer (especially if you want access to updates and support!), a large team can get quite good value for money.
