A Little Bit of CSS
Oct 06, 2003 @ 12:18:23

If you've just started out with web development, you might find all of the things to learn a bit overwhelming, especially if you're trying to get into PHP. All of the languages and possible site looks/feels are staggering and might be a little overwhelming. Well, WebReference.com hopes to change that - for one thing at least.

In their two part series (Part 1 and Part 2) of Core CSS: 2nd Edition, they shove you right into the world of CSS, one of the core languages of page displays and formatting, and show you how to do everything from controlling the flow of your layout (horizontal versus vertical) to just some simple text formatting options like underlining and spacing the characters.

CSS is, by far, one of the most powerful of the languages used out on the web today. There's so much untapped potential that only a handful of sites are taking advantage of, and it's a shame. Layouts with CSS are becoming more and more popular, and table layouts are becoming a thing of the past. CSS support is only getting better in the major browsers, and soon, CSS will be the standard for designing a site, rather than an HTML table.
