Let's get this week started off the right way by taking a look back at the major happenings of last week with the latest PHP Weekly Summary from Zend.
One of the main happenings this past week was the renewed emphasis put on the PECL code in the PHP world. Wez Furlong even jumped into the mix and ofered to become the PECL coordinator, and even has his own vision for the future of the extensions. Also this past week, there was a fun new extension that's been unearthed from a developer named Chris Stiles. His extension, libgda, can manage data stored in databases or XML files and it can be used by non-GNOME applications. Seems like this could come in pretty handy for those that don't have (or don't want) a real RDBMS to work with their code.
And, of course, there were a few smaller items, including a new add-on patch for DirectOI for modem status, another fix for the 64-bit platforms, and the release of some results from a Zend survey done a while back.
