PHP.net:
ActiveState and A Little From the Past
Aug 18, 2003 @ 12:36:19

There are two quick announcements from the main PHP.net page this morning, both very important in their own rights.

First off, there's the mention of the winners of the ActiveState Awards for this year. The relevant PHP winners were the "father" of PEAR, Stig Bakken for the Programmer's Choice award, and the Activators' Choice award went to Ilia Alshanetsky, a member of the PHP Quality Assurance team, developer of the fudforum package, and a major contributor to PHP development. Congrats to you all both for the contributions you've made and the recognition you deserve.

The other important note that the PHP.net crew has posted is the News Archives that they now have posted. Ever wonder what was the original PHP 3.0 release announcement, what where the choices when the PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor name was choosen, or since when you can use URL shortcuts to access pieces of our site? They go all the way back to 1998, around the time when "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor" was chosen as the "official acronym"...
