On PHPEverywhere this morning, there's a new posting from the SitePoint Forums on the topic of PHP being ready for "the enterprise".
I stumbled on this thread recently, and I like this post by brainpipe best. It's exactly how I feel, and how we use PHP at our company: So if enterprise-ready means you can make it work for enterprise systems, then yes, PHP is there. If it means ready to work for enterprise systems out-of-the-box, then no, PHP has a very long way to go. But I really don't see the point in arguing about it. Why not throw all that mental muscle around making PHP more powerful?
It's quite a long set of postings on the topic, but it has some good arguments both for and against PHP in a business environment. What do you all think? Is PHP powerful/secure/robust enough to make it in the corproate world?
