DevShed:
More About Subqueries
Aug 01, 2003 @ 12:36:16

From DevShed this morning, there's the second part of their series on working with subqueries in MySQL.

In this edition, they dive a little deeper than before, showing you how to use them within a SELECT's query's FROM clause, with the IN operator and the EXISTS test, and in UPDATE and DELETE queries. All of these features, while familiar to some users out there because of other DBs like Oracle, can be immensely helpful in your queries. They can even keep you from having to do two or three complex queries, and replace them with one single, well-crafted subqueried SQL statement.

I love the fact that subqueries are here to stay in MySQL - it only makes one of the world's best database systems even better. Imagine, the speed of MySQL combined with the features of something like Oracle - what couldn't it do?
