Over on DevShed.com there's a new article posted for all of those MySQL users that have been long awaiting transactions in their favorite RDBMS - Using Subqueries In MySQL (part 1).
One of the newest features in MySQL, and one of its most eagerly-anticipated ones, is subqueries. Subqueries have been on the MySQL wishlist for a while; they've finally made an appearance in MySQL 4.1, and, as someone who's been playing with them for a little while, I can tell you that they're pretty useful. Sadly, however, since the software is still under development, there isn't too much information available at the moment on their full capabilities in the MySQL context.
The author goes on to talk about how to set up a sample database to give you some information to play with, as well as well as examples of how to use the subqueries to grab the info you need. This feature has been a long time coming in MySQL, but I'm glad it's finally here - now they just need to finalize the code...
