So, you've been hearing more and more about this newfangled "PHP5" that the whole world (including us) is raving about, but you feel a little "behind the curve" as far as knowing what's so great about it? Well, SitePoint is here to help with it's latest piece.
In PHP5: Coming Soon to a Webserver Near You, one of the more prominent members of the community (Harry Fuecks) gives an overview of what the new features of PHP5 are going to be, complete with some sample code to show you how to use those features. He spends a good deal of time on one of the major advancements in PHP5 - the new Object Model. This new model helps to make PHP object-oriented programming a bit more "standard" and behave a little less flaky than some of the PHP4 has in the past.
There is tons of information here, so be sure to set aside a good chunk of time if you're going to read up on it all. It's definitely worth it if you're trying to come to grips with what PHP5 will be able to do for you, though.
