Seems like everyone these days has an opinion on PHP 5 and where it's heading and what it'll be like, and the php|architect blog is no exception.
He talks about the upcoming release of this new distribution and how it should advance to become a more powerful tool for all of those users out there worldwide. If your organization already uses PHP, now is a good time to take a hard look at PHP5 and decide how it fits your upgrade path. Although it's difficult to tell exactly when a final PHP5 will become available, it will, eventually, and there's no reason why you shouldn't be ready for it and start planning now to ensure that your existing and future code will fit well with it. That, after all, is why you should be interested in the fact that the PHP5 beta is out.
And, yes, I love this comment - it sums it all up nicely: It's a bit like peeking into the crystal ball and knowing that in a few months all these great features will be available for you to use, peruse, and abuse. And, most of all, they will be stable and reliable, just like PHP has been this far once a version proper was released.
