Over on Builder.com this morning, there's a new article that touches on a topic I've heard more and more about lately - Do Web developers need a Linux cert?
The basic idea here is that, as web developers, we should know how to control the whole application, not just the part that we write for a web site - everything from the server it's running on to the Apache instance it uses. Of course, they give some negatives and positives of both sides, with the final result being something of a personal decision.
Most of the developers that I know either already have enough linux/server knowledge to get in there and get something corrected, but few have something as in-depth as a cert would justify. I wonder how much control sysadmins would want the web developers having anyway...
