Over on phpPatterns.com this morning, there's a mention of the new Open Source inititive that's been going on sort of "behind the scenes" over at the Novell Forge.
Over recent months, Novell have begun making a serious commitment to Open Source. Aside from (possibly) having sunk SCOs claims on Linux today, from a product point of view they're porting their technology to Linux as well as making Open Source apps like MySQL run on Netware. [...] Although they're placing no restrictions (aside from using an Open Source license) on what projects you place on Novell Forge, my guess is they're hoping this will lead to people writing Open Source "add ons" to their products, such as PHP based admin tools.
This could be a very cool thing for the PHP community, especially with all of the Novell users out there in the general computing community. PHP admin tools for things like authentication / administration / company data fetching, could really make our favorite language shine.
