DevArtciles:
Web Services and XML For You
May 20, 2003 @ 12:40:39

On the heels of the previous posting (about the Zend DOM XML article) there's a new article from DevArtciles for those people out there that are still struggling with XML and XML services.

A Plain-English Explanation of XML and Web Services gives a great introduction to some of the terms and features that these powerful little web-based applications can do. They give some of the cool features, and some of the pitfalls/downfalls of using this technology, but, overall, the view is positive. In fact, there are lots of major companies (like Amazon.com) that have already adopted some web service technology for their sites, and even allowed people open access to their resources.

Personally, I think that web services are still "the next frontier" as far as tools on the web. There's just so much possibility there, not only for collaboration on web applications, but also for new and better sites/utilities to emerge for all those hungry users out there.
