Apples and PEARs Working Together
Jan 23, 2003 @ 13:53:11

For all of you Mac users out there, the MacDevCenter on the O'Reilly Network might have something that would interest you. If you're using PHP, you might noticed that you need some other package for the PEAR libraries, but don't want to have to go through the trouble of installing it yourself or redoing your install just to get another package, and CVS just confuses you. Well, This article will help - showing you how to get and install the PEAR Package Manager on OS X 10.2.

All you'll need to be sure of is that you have the Security Update (from 2002-08-23) and the CGI version of PHP installed to get this script working. It's a command-line utility, but with the help of this article you'll be using it like a pro before long. All you have to do is pick the section from PEAR you'd like and tell it which packages to install. Pretty clean and easy...
