O'Reilly:
Your Mac and PHP Make Magic
Jan 17, 2003 @ 13:24:17

For all of you Mac users out there (yeah, that includes me), the O'Reilly Network has a new article you just might be interested in. For those who like to keep on the "bleeding edge" of the PHP releases, it can be frustrating to see Apple lag a bit behind on the updates to their OS X software. Thankfully, with the recent release of PHP 4.3, Macintosh users can now configure and build PHP themselves.

This article, PHP 4.3 and Mac OS X, they show you what software to get to compile it correctly, and how to get it all working with your favorite --with features.

If you've done the PHP install before on any other Unix-based system, then this will feel very familiar. But, there are a few differences to watch out for - things like some additional parameters you have to define on configure, and the software you'll need before you even get started compiling (files from the Apple Dev Site).
