David Yee wrote in to tell us all about a new PHP certification exam that he spotted a few days ago from the folks over on ExpertTraining.com.
The exam, as summarized here, lasts for only 40 minutes, and covers everything from simple variables all the way up to regular expressions and using sessions. Since there are 40 questions, you only have about a minute on each one, but I can imagine that, for some of the more simple questions, that's more than enough.
I haven't taken this test personally, but, if it's like most of the PHP "exams" out there, it's good for assessing if the test-taker knows a moderate amount of PHP, versus finding a real expert. It's hard for web based exams to really communicate the knowledge that the person knows. Real programming skill is about problem-solving, not just spitting answers back out onto a page....
