SitePoint:
Working The Web - Accessibility
Dec 05, 2002 @ 13:59:16

Well, seeing as how there's hardly any news out there, and good design on the web is always a topical issue - I wanted to share this article from SitePoint about working with "web usability" on your site.

For those that aren't sure just what this mythical term "web usability" means: Accessibility in Web design addresses the issue of creating Websites that are accessible to all users, regardless of physical ability or the way in which they use the Internet. Basically, you want to make it so that anyone and everyone can use your site, whether it be with their own pair of eyes, or "electronic eyes" reading it to them from their speakers.

There are even guidelines out there, put out by the W3C, that talk about what is required to make your site 100% "accessible" for everyone. There are also tools like Bobby to help you out in your testing. The author then finishes out the article with a list of other resources that can help you get started on your path to accessibility.
