Here's a few questions for all you developers out there. Are you:
Well, if you're like most developers, you work more than anything else. It seems to be a trend these days with software developers (or any person involved with computers these days). Long days and work after hours are the norm. Unrealistic deadlines, and lack of understanding are running rampant in businesses these days. The only ones who seem to get a break are those rare breeds that have techies running the company as well as working there. Apparently, only techies understand techie things and deadlines.
I love this quote from this piece by Scott Johnson:
I have to think that a big part of it is that managers fail to take into account one simple thing: I'm a person first. A worker second. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anyone's not dedicated or a hard worker. All I'm saying is that the real world correctly takes precedence.
There's times when I just want to give up on the fight, following the whims of a boss who constantly sets unrealistic release dates - then there's times like yesterday. Ever just have one of those days?
