Been looking for that one "killer app" that just has to be out there for PHP? Well, according to the author of this article over on SitePoint, that app has come - if you can install it. The eZ publish content management system is (on the surface) a Website content management system, written in PHP by eZ systems, a Norwegian company, it allows you to store content in a database. On top of this database, a set of PHP applications provides a powerful administration interface for site maintenance, while a wealth of front end modules allow eZ publish to be rapidly implemented as anything from a news and community site like SitePoint or an online shop, to a B2B portal or even a corporate Intranet.
From the sounds of this article, this CMS system could be just what a lot of companies are looking for to have a ready-made system they can drop their content into. It seems a bit more flexible than a normal CMS, and looks like it allows for easy expansion as well. Is the world ready for YACMS (Yet Another CMS)?
One special note: Developing with eZ publish means writing Object Oriented code!
