Of course, one of the biggest stories in the PHP community right now is Yahoo's move to PHP announced just the other day. They've been using PHP limitedly in their finance section I believe for some time now, and I think they finally saw the light and understood that PHP could replace their current pages and make it just that much better.
There's some interesting (and some uninformed) comments on the Slashdot article that made the announcement on the 29th. There was even a presentation at the PHPCon 2002 about Making a Case for PHP at Yahoo, written by an engineer that works at Yahoo. It's an interesting read, if for nothing more than to see how such a monstrous site can expect to change everything over to this "new language" completely. Some of the performance testing that they've done is pretty impressive, and shows, yet again, that PHP will outperform their current site easily....
