Over on one of our sister PHPDN sites, there's a new review of one of the newer Wrox PHP books to hit the market - PHP4 Multimedia Programming.
PHPClasses.org has this new review to give you a general idea of how the book works and who it's targeted for. The book includes not only a "review" section of PHP, but several case studies about how PHP was used effectively to reference external media and use it inside such things as a Flash animation.
This book isn't one for beginners, though. It doesn't give any kind of detailed introduction to the language or its structure, just a brief overview, meant more as a refresher, and then it's straight into the meat of the topics.
Overall this is a very interesting book that presents several extensions for serving dynamically generated multimedia content with PHP. It uses illustrative examples that clearly demonstrate the great potential of PHP for this purpose. If you are interested on multimedia content dynamic generation, this is a must have book.
