At the beginning of November I attended the International PHP Conference in Frankfurt, Germany. This was my first attendance at any of the larger conferences and I thought I'd share my experiences as a conference newbie.

On the PHP Women website today, there's a new interview (by Lorna Mitchell) with Zoe Slattery, one of the speakers at this year's International PHP Conference (her talk was titled "TEST || die".

Zoe's talk at the conference was entitled "TEST || die"; she talked about how she got into testing PHP itself and her hopes for the future. There is little activity on the PHP QA mailing list and a great need for more tests to be written so that changes to fix known bugs or add new features will not break existing functionality.

They talk about Zoe's beginning days with PHP and with testing, some of her fellow developers, speaking experience and a bit about her life outside of the "PHP bubble".

Tobias Schlitt has mentioned a talk that he's giving at this year's International PHP Conference - a hands-on session detailing the use of the eZ Components framework.

At the beginning of this workshop I will give you a general overview on eZ Components, show you the most important concepts and illustrate our architecture and design decisions. After that, we will start digging into code and you will see, how different components work in practice.

The session is scheduled for the first day of the conference (the workshop day) that's three days away - the 4th of November. So, if you're interested in finding out about this powerful framework and are looking to get a good, solid introduction, be sure not to miss Tobias' session.

Tobias Schlitt has posted about a new component for the eZ components (PHP based) system he develops for - a WebDAV module.

Starting by the end of August we spent almost whole September full-time on designing and implementing this component. The goal was to design a flexible WebDAV server component, which can be used to edit whatever data source on an HTTP server through the WebDAV extension of the protocol, with the full lot of concerns in mind.

Included in the post is an image showing the architecture of the component and a mention that, if you're attending this year's International PHP Conference (2007), you'll be able to see it in action.
