Derick Rethans points out that the group putting on the PHP Vikinger conference has found a home:

It will be at one of the old factory buildings here at Klosteroya, close to eZ Systems' offices. The room has about space for 80 people, and has a nice view over the river southwards.

Community News: eZ Systems Receives Web Idol Award 2007

Thomas submitted a story to us today about an award that the eZ Systems group (developers of the eZ Components framework among other things) has received for the second time - the Web Idol Award (2007).

Five software vendors got six minutes each to show their CMS solution to an audience comprised of the conference attendees. After the demonstrations, a panel of judges commented on the presentation. The audience voted eZ Publish as the best CMS solution, and eZ Flow as having the most appealing first impression.

The show was hosted by Teresa Regli and the judges included Erik Hartman, James Robertson and Tony Byrne, founder and editor of CMSWatch.

Community News: eZ Systems Releases eZ Publish Extension for Oracle Database (under GPL)

As mentioned in this new post on the php|architect website, the eZ Systems group have announced a new extension for their software (eZ Publish) to link with an Oracle database, under a GPL license no less.

This extension was previously only available under a proprietary license and was sold from $899 to $2999. It is now freely available. Last year, eZ Systems also released the Online Editor, previously only available under a proprietary license, as Open Source software under the GPL.

Papelipe.no: The 5th annual eZ Conference

Sandro Groganz has pointed out a post on the Papelipe.no blog concerning the latest announcement to come out of the eZ systems world - their Call for Papers for the eZ Conference 2007.

eZ Systems has announced the date for the eZ Conference 2007. The event will be held on June 6-8 in Skien, Norway. The call for papers is out and interested speakers are encouraged to submit talk proposals. Registration to attend the event will begin on January 9, 2007. Look out for early bird specials!

eZ systems: Community newsletter 15/09/2006

The Zend Developer Zone quickly points out that the latest eZ Systems newsletter has been released and it includes details on version 3.8.4, updated documentation, and a few other things.

This week's newsletter brings news about an updated distribution package for eZ publish 3.8.4, new documentation for eZ publish upgrades and new information about eZ platform development. The newsletter also includes the weekly forum watch and an update about the current bug fix status.

They cover the update to eZ publish, the "Upgrade" section in the documentation, new advancements concerning eZ platform, and some interesting discussions going on over in their forums.
