php|architect has officially announced their php|tek conference for 2012 and have opened their Call for Papers:

The simple answer is to the question "What topics are you looking for" is: anything that helps inspire PHP developers to do their jobs better, more easily, and more efficiently. [...] Most importantly, we do not necessarily look for talks that are about PHP. Some of the most successful presentations over the years have been on products built on PHP (like frameworks) and on technologies that are tangential to it (e.g.: Apache, JavaScript, databases, and so on).

The deadline to submit is December 31st for the two types of sessions - tutorials (3 or 6 hours long) and regular talks (50 minutes). You can manage your proposals via the php|architect website.

Anna Filina's Blog: Public Call for Papers: What Does That Mean?

Anna Filina, one of the organizers of the ConFoo Conference in Montreal (February 27th through March 2nd) has a new post to her blog about a new process they're trying out this year for the Call for Papers - a public voting feature that allows anyone to voice their opinion on the proposed sessions.

Some of you may have already heard that the ConFoo call for papers is already open. The great thing about it this year, is that it's public. This means that anyone can vote on the proposals. Besides being fun for the speakers and attendees, it opens up a whole lot of possibilities.

She talks about some of the reasons they decided to go this route such as wanting to give the attendees the most "bang for the buck" and the ability for speakers to see what their fellow speakers are proposing and is working. The committee, of course, will have the final say, but the votes will help quite a bit.

If you'd like to vote and are even considering making it to this year's event, go over an sign up to vote on the conference's Call for Papers section.

Lorna Mitchell has a new post today about this year's PHP North West conference happening October 7th through 9th in Manchester, UK. She talks some about the current status of the event and how it'll be structured.

e might still be in the thick of the summer conference season, but there's an event coming up this autumn which has me very excited: PHP North West 2011.

This is a regional PHP conference based in Manchester, UK, and I've been involved with it since it began (I'm surprised to find this is our fourth edition, it still feels like a shiny new adventure!). This year the dates are 8th and 9th of October and with an added tutorial day on the Friday, it is bigger (and of course better) than ever.

She points out the current Call for Papers that are open for submission and notes that the deadline is very soon - June 12th. She mentions the Tutorial Day with topics covering Zend Framework 2, security, Drupal performance and her web services tutorial. You can currently pick up tickets for the "blind bird" price of £72. For more information, see the main conference site.

In this new post to the QaFoo blog, there's a reminder about the the Call for Papers for this year's FrOSCon being open, including the need for proposals for the PHP@FrOSCon room.

Yes, it's that time of the year again, where the call for papers for PHP@FrOSCon takes place. As in the past 5 instances of this amazing event, the PHP Usergroup Dortmund - in cooperation with other user groups e.g. from Cologne - will organize the PHP@FrOSCon project room with a dedicated session program. And it's time to propose your talks for this now, since the CFP will end on May 23rd.

The post also includes a summary of the FrOSCon event for those than haven't been to one before - both about the actual conference and the social aspect of it all. If you'd like more information on the conference itself, go over to the official conference site.
