The Atlanta PHP User Group has <a href="http://atlantaphp.org/2012/12/january-2013-meeting/">announced their January 2013 meeting</a>, a loo at the "Current Trends of the PHP and Open Source Job Market" (from <i>Ari Waller</i>):
</p>
<blockquote>
The presentation will be an overview of the current employment market and outlook specifically for PHP developers (as well as other Open Source related Open Source trends), based on the current supply and demands in the market place, as well as career oriented topics via Q&A (Resumes, Interviews, and overall job hunting tips and strategies). Ari will cover a year by year comparison from his previous talk and discuss changes and new trends going into 2013. He will also discuss how to work with recruiters as effectively as possible (if at all), as well as questions you have always wanted to ask regarding the the inner workings of IT Staffing.
</blockquote>
<p>
Despite it being presented by a recruitment company, they have promised an open and honest conversation about the topic, not a sales pitch. If you'd like to attend, check out <a href="http://atlantaphp.org/2012/12/january-2013-meeting/">this page</a> on the Atlanta PHP site for more information - including a <a href="http://atlantaphp.org/directions/">new meeting location</a>.

The Atlanta PHP User Group has <a href="http://atlantaphp.org/2012/09/october-2012-meeting/">announced their October meetup</a> with a presentation from <a href="https://twitter.com/jerkob">Jacob Terry</a> about tracking in your application.
</p>
<blockquote>
Even if your users don't want a full "audit trail" of activity, even if you aren't interested in doing a newsfeed, recording user actions in your application can be enormously useful. We'll look at a real-world implementation of recording that data, using a CodeIgniter-based application, and discuss three less-obvious use cases. Those are: Undo, Sync & Emails.
</blockquote>
<p>
The meeting is going to be on Thursday, October 4th from 7-9pm at the <a href="http://atlantaphp.org/directions/">Strongbox West</a> coworking facility. If you're in the Atlanta area, you should definitely check this group out!

</p>
<blockquote>
MongoDB is a scalable, high-performance, open source, document-oriented NoSQL database. [...] This talk introduces MongoDB for developers who aren't familiar with it with a detailed introduction of how to work with MongoDB from PHP. This talk will cover the basics from installing the PHP driver and connecting to MongoDB to creating, inserting, querying for, and updating documents. Schema design will also be covered. This won't be a duplication of the previous MongoDB presentation we had earlier this year.
</blockquote>
<p>
The event is happening Friday, September 21st from 7-9pm (note that it's September, not this month). More details on the event are to come, so if you're a PHP (or MongoDB) developer in the Atlanta area, stay tuned for the latest info.

<blockquote>
If you use (or would like to use) the <a href="http://codeigniter.com/">CodeIgniter</a> framework in your PHP projects, you've probably seen that each project requires common elements (authentication, user management, basic CMS components). Take a walkthrough of <a href="http://www.pyrocms.com/">PyroCMS</a> with John Corry to learn how you can leverage it's components to bring your projects closer to completion right out of the box! If you love CI, you'll LOVE PyroCMS!
